Problems at Home

A doctor has some trouble with the sink, on a public holiday. He calls the local plumber, only to be told it's his day off ...

"But I get called out on my days off, too!" says the doctor, somewhat exasperated, and the plumber relents.

The plumber arrives, and glances over the sink, looking preoccupied. He mumbles something about golf, then hands the doctor a couple of aspirin and walks out, saying,

"Put these in. If it doesn't clear up in 24 hours, come and see me tomorrow."

1. Alho: Garlic
Ex: It is said that vampires are afraid of garlic. (Dizem que vampiros tem medo de alho.)

2. Cebola: Onion
Ex: Peeling onions makes you cry. (Descascar cebola faz chorar.)

3. Samambaia: Fern
Ex: She watered the fern every day. (Ela regava a samambaia todo dia.)

4. Palmeira: Palm tree
Ex: We were sitting under a palm tree. (Estávamos sentados em baixo de uma palmeira.)

5. Eucalipto: Eucalyptus (gum tree)
Ex: There is a plantation of eucalyptus near the lake. (Há uma plantação de eucalipto perto do lago.)

6. Cedro: Cedar
Ex: That table you bought is made of cedar. (Aquela mesa que você comprou é feita de cedro.)

7. Alga: Algae

Ex: He was doing research on plants like moss, algae, etc. (Ele estava fazendo pesquisa sobre plantas como o musgo, alga, etc.)

9. Mamona: Castor oil plant
Ex: They intend to grow castor oil plant on the farm. (Eles pretendem plantar mamona na fazenda.)

10. Cipó: Liana
Ex: Tarzan uses a liana to get around. (Tarzan usa um cipó para se locomover.)

11. Urtiga: Nettle, stinging nettle
Ex: The nettle hurt his skin. (A urtiga machucou a pele dele.)

12. Grama: Grass
Ex: You’ll have to find time to cut the grass. (Você vai ter que arrumar tempo para cortar a grama.)

13. Flor: Flower
Ex: He gave her a flower as a way of apologizing to her. (Ele deu uma flor a ela como uma forma de se desculpar.)

Pink, Green and Yellow

Three men, an Italian, a French and a Portuguese went for a job interview in England.

Before the interview, they were told that they must compose a sentence in English with three main words: "green", "pink" and "yellow".

The Italian was first: "I wake up in the morning. I see the yellow sun. I see the green grass and I think to myself, I hope it will be a pink day."

The French was next: I wake up in the morning, I eat a yellow banana, a green pepper and in the evening I watch the pink panther on TV."

Last was the Portuguese: "I wake up in the morning, I hear the phone "green...green..., I pink up the phone and I say: Yellow?"

Overpaid

A building contractor was being paid by the week. One day he approached the owner of the property and held up the check he'd been given. "This is two hundred dollars less than we agreed on," he said.

"I know," the owner said, "But last week I overpaid you two hundred dollars, and you never complained."

The contractor said, "Well, I don't mind an occasional mistake. But when it gets to be a habit, I feel I have to call it to your attention."

Paid For Standing

The owner of a manufacturing firm decided to make a surprise tour of the factory. Walking through the warehouse he noticed a young man lazily leaning against a packing crate.

The factory owner angrily said, "Just how much are you being paid?"

The young man replied, "A hundred dollars a week."

The owner pulled out his wallet, peeled off five $20 bills and shouted at the young man:

"Here is a week's pay--now get out and don't come back!"

Without a word, the young man stuffed the money into his pocket and left.

The warehouse manager, standing nearby, stared in amazement.

"Tell me," the boss asked him, "How long has that guy worked for us?"

"He didn't work here," replied the warehouse manager,

"He was just the Fed-Ex guy delivering a package."

Too Many Words

A husband looking through the paper came upon a study that said women use more words than men.

Excited to prove to his wife that he had been right all along when he accused her of talking too much, he showed her the study results. It read "Men use about 15,000 words per day, but women use 30,000"

The wife thought for a while, then finally she said to her husband:

"It's because we have to repeat everything we say"

The husband said "What?"

Prescription

A lady walks into the drug store and asks the druggist for some arsenic.

The druggist asks "Maám, what do you want with arsenic?".

The lady say's "To kill my husband."

"I can't sell you any for that reason" says the druggist.

The lady then reaches into her purse and pulls out a photo of a man and a women in a compromising position, the man is her husband and the lady is the druggist's wife, and shows it to the druggist.

He looks at the photo and says, "Oh, I didn't know you had a prescription!"

Two Guys in a Supermarket

Two guys are moving about in a supermarket when their carts collide.

"She's tall, with dark hair, long legs and firm tits.

Não é a doença que, aliás, deveria ser "SIDA". É um "adido".

Ale

Não é "ala". É uma cerveja meio amarga. ( Não confundir com "ail" (doença, indisposição, etc.).

Alias

Poderia ser traduzido como: "também conhecido como", ou "também chamado...".

Ailment

Não é "alimento". É "doença" (física ou mental).

Alms

Não são as almas — é "esmola".

Parking ticket

I went to the store the other day, and I was in there for only about 5 minutes.

When I came out there was a motorcycle cop writing a parking ticket.

So I went up to him and said, "Come on, buddy, how about giving a guy a break?"

He ignored me and continued writing the ticket.

So I called him a pencil-necked Nazi.

He glared at me and started writing another ticket for worn tires!

So I called him a piece of horse manure.

He finished the second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first. Then he started writing a third ticket!

This went on for about 20 minutes... the more I abused him, the more tickets he wrote.

I didn't care. My car was parked around the corner. I try to have a little fun each day....it's important!!!
